For more than 20 years, Inspector Barnaby is determined in the fictional County of Midsomer. It was only when Tom Barnaby (John Nettles), but seven years ago, in peace and quiet went – it took his Cousin John. Is played by Neil Dudgeon.
On Sunday, 23. December, from 22 clock in the ZDF with the next case: In “the Cricket fever” has to do it Barnaby with a killer who leaves his victims from a ball machine to shoot down. We met the 57-year-old, extremely amusing British to the conversation.

Each relies on series. “Inspector Barnaby” has been running for more than 20 years, has been sold in 204 countries. What can learn from Amazon, Netflix and co. of your series?
Neil Dudgeon: As one who has seen the series itself has always been fond of, I can put myself into the well in the audience. I got it, before I fire of the Ensemble, loved, Sunday, met in the evening with my wife, the fireplace, a glass of wine to pour, sit back and then on to Midsomer. Hmmm. Gorgeous!
Why there?
Dudgeon : Because the world is there somehow in order. Okay, up on the killer. But even their victims, always with a certain sense of Humor to the track.
a Very English sense of humour.
Dudgeon: is True. (Grins.) And then the music. Dududidududidududiduuu – because everything looks the same but much more harmless. And in these wonderful landscapes! And Barnabys Dog. People love dogs. Particularly in the UK.
… and around the world. Like the series. This British Humor is one that everyone understands?
Dudgeon : I think so. ?lbet And to be honest: We tell stories that could actually happen. How often someone already is in England in a dispute about who inherits the castle or the Cottage, who died? I think so often people think that what we tell in the series, is completely unrealistic. The stories, writes the true life, the stark. Once we have filmed in a stately mansion, in which something Weird had happened. The family had quarreled about who would get this huge house. You have agreed then that gets a whole side of the family, the land and the other side everything is in the house. For those who should get the asset, a bad Deal. You have accepted him, to finalize the topic finally. And then? You will discover the Eliminate hand-written papers of Isaac Newton! Worth much more than the old house. (Laughs.) If you were in Midsomer tell, everyone would say: Oh, now you exaggerate, but really.
you are visibly with joy. Can you imagine, to leave the series at some point?
Dudgeon : Difficult question. We shoot from April until November, the series occupies a large part of my year and of my life. It is not easy to do on the side other. But I would want to stop? There was nothing so far that would have lured me to the Inspector Barnaby behind me. I feel very lucky to be in such a successful Format to play. I think volunteering, I’ll never stop. I probably need to be killed.
And how?
Dudgeon: Oh, it would have to be a really sophisticated murder! (Thinks.) Inspector Barnaby would have to be somewhere to be found dead. But not by his wife but by his dog! The would lie on his chest and yelps. And maybe the dog would die. Of a broken little heart.
But who is the murderer? The Woman?
Dudgeon: (Laughs.) Ha! She’d be pleased! (Thinking.) No, I think we need a small consortium of former of him with convicted murderers. The two had met in prison, and a self-help group founded. According to the Motto: “Hey, I’m Derrick and I’m a murderer.” You speak with a psychologist, – all is clear – in fact, a murderer. As in a Bank robber movie, in which all join forces once again for a last big score. And your big job is to kill Barnaby. So in the way … Lead you to the fort. But you tell everyone it was my idea! (Laughs.)
