Frequent cause of accidents in Winter is a non-adapted speed. But when the speed is not adjusted? Geretsrieds police chief Franz Schöttl explains it.

during the last snow days, the most common accident this was probably the cause on the streets of the district: non-adapted speed. But when speed is not adjusted? Also, when I drive in the snow on a straight country road, only 70 kilometers per hour to drive the car? Franz Schöttl, head of the Geretsrieder police, explained this so-called Vague legal term:

+ Franz schöttl head of Geretsried police inspection

“According to Section 3 of the road traffic regulations, a driver may only drive so fast that he has mastered his vehicle in any Situation. He has conditions in his speed, in particular, the road, traffic, visibility and weather, as well as the personal skills and characteristics of the vehicle and of the load. Is the visibility due to fog, snow or rain is less than 50 meters, is restricted to the Whole again: you must not drive faster than 50 kilometres per hour, if, for example, on mirror-smooth roads – not a lower speed is commanded. You can only drive so fast that you can stop within the manageable range, narrow lanes, and even within the perceivable range. As you can see, the legislator considers the very General. Therefore, a mnemonic: In an accident, the driver, never the road or the weather is always to blame.“
