“How are you feeling?”, a friend asks at the beginning of July at Hayward’s Facebook Timeline. “Shit,” commented the 27-year-old American. “My head hurts hurts behind my ears, my throat, and I spit blood. But I’m okay. The medication did make me see double.” At the time, Hayward is already diagnosed: Bacterial Meningitis, a brain inflammation of the skin. Hayward is in San Francisco, on a holiday with his Partner Kerry.

When the Couple comes home, Hayward’s condition is deteriorating quickly. Headaches, high sensitivity to light, against which not even migraine medication help. So the two go to the hospital, where Hayward gets the diagnosis.

Hayward, but loses his hearing

Meningitis ends survived often fatal. For Hayward, it’s still off the hook: For three weeks, he will be treated in the hospital. In the short time he loses his eyesight, then he is paralyzed from the waist down. When he finally home, he lost by the disease permanently.

His friend Kerry, 37, told Buzzfeed News: “In a relationship communication is the key. The six months we were without communication.”

Hayward Vdcasino had felt as trapped in his own head. For the couple, a hard time starts. Quickly, you try so much character to learn a new language as possible, to be able to communicate further. “He has always placed a sign with the inscription ‘I love you’ on my leg, or my back, then I knew that I can fall asleep now,” recalls Hayward.

Finally, Hayward gets the Chance to have a hearing aid for the deaf, a so-called cochlear-implant. Such implants, the function of the damaged parts of the inner ear by converting sound into electrical signals and forward over it. After the procedure, it will take a while until the device is switched on for the first Time. For Kerry, the perfect period to plan a special Moment for his Partner:

“I am so happy to hear you

” The First thing is listening to Hayward after months and months, the voice of his partner – and his marriage proposal: “It was a long journey up to this point,” begins Kerry. “I’m happy that we did it together and I want to continue to do these things with you, you as much help as I can, because I know that you have helped me,” says the 37-Year-old, before Hayward sheds the first tears, and Kerry finally the big question: “will you marry me?” The 27-Year-old Hayward answered in the affirmative. The two kiss, lying in the arms. “I’m so happy that you can hear!”, Kerry says. And Hayward replies: “And I’m so happy to hear you!”
