Emily Andre has slammed Call The Midwife whilst expecting her second child.
Emily exclusively wrote in her OK! Emily, a doctor at the NHS, says that she finds the comments “ridiculous and very old-fashioned”.
Emily, 32 years old, stated that she didn’t agree to these comments.
“It is very common for many women to work until a few days before they deliver, so that they can save as much maternity time as possible after giving birth.”
She said, “To expect an actor not to work while pregnant seems absurd and very old-fashioned.”
“Pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to be sick. A woman can work while pregnant, but it’s up to her.
Helen voiced her opinion about the negative comments on Twitter. She retorted at those who were critical of her and reminded them that pregnant women “have the right” to work.
The actress, Trixie Franklin, 37, wrote that she had seen too many comments about her pregnancy while filming @CallTheMidwife1. (Thank you also for your lovely comments!) ).
“Women get pregnant, our bodies change. We have the right to work, if we choose. Let’s just support it and not question it.
Helen replied with this tweet: “It’s very amateur in my opinion. It’s not like it’s filmed all year.
It’s only a brief window. If she is pregnant, she should stop filming. It disrupts the continuity and aesthetics.
Another tweet said: “i love the fact that helengeorge is so clearly pregnant, like they really are trying to hide it but it’s just not working.”
Helen received lots of support from her 80,000 followers on Twitter, including one comment: “I hadn’t even realized she was pregnant. Evidently, I was more involved in the story, incredible script, and acting than [critics].
“I would rather have Helen with a hidden pregnancy than none at all.” #supportwomen.”
Another added: “Didn’t notice your pregnancy in any way, but even if it had, you’re right to say that you have every right continue working and that anyone making negative remarks should remain silent.”
“You are brilliant, the show is brilliant, all I can say is thank-you for everything.”
Helen was blessed with her second child, Lark, in November 2013 by Jack Ashton (Call the Midwife’s Reverend Tom Hereward) and her partner Jack Ashton.
Wren Ivy, a four-year-old girl, is also a part of the couple.
