ITT more than three months
On November 7, 2017, an elderly man, 27-year-old arrested for contempt in the district of Val Fourré had been manacled hands against a defective heater to the inside of a police van taking him to the police station, causing severe burns to the second and third degrees. The victim has since undergone two skin grafts and a total incapacity to work (ITT) of more than three months has been prescribed for her.

His lawyer Calvin Job assured to have the intention to request a recharacterization of the facts, which according to him cannot be reduced to simple “manslaughter”. “Someone who shouts and that we don’t hear, it is not far from being torture,” he said. “There are a lot of elements in this folder that show that there are things that don’t turn round”, he added, specifying that he was no longer considering requesting a re-enactment not to slow down the folder.
An accident, according to the police
For its part, the police have always claimed to have had to deal with a man of “very virulent” on the day of the arrest. He would have tried to escape before being arrested and “hoisted with difficulty in the van” as a “gathering hostile” is formed, after the first findings of the police.

During the trip, the man would have “kicked in the side door” and then would have been “lying on the back on the ground where he continued to struggle”, according to the police. The burns caused by the defective heater from the van, would thus be the result of an accident and not an intentional act, according to the defence of police officers.
