Changes in February 2019: millions of people can now enjoy a new holiday
millions of people can look forward to, because on 8. March 2019 there will be a new holiday: international women’s day. However, only the residents in Berlin on this day is free of work – the capital had adopted the holiday as the first state in Germany officially. The legal regulation effective from 1. February – the women’s day, 8. March 2019 falls on a Friday.
Despite the introduction of the new women’s day in March, Berlin lags behind in terms of official holidays with the other länder. Bavaria, for example, has a total of 13 public holidays Berlin “only” ten.
Changes in February 2019: the Diesel-driving ban in Frankfurt?
Actually, it was planned from the 1. February in Frankfurt a Diesel-driving ban, but nothing will come of it first. Because the Hessian administrative court (VGH) had on Tuesday an emergency appeal of the German environmental aid (DUH) rejected, according to the the Diesel-driving ban despite ongoing legal dispute with the state of Hesse from 1. February should apply.
The ban would have affected Euro-4 Diesel and gasoline with Euro 1 or 2 within the environmental zone. Hesse, however, want to evaluate other measures to reduce the average nitrogen dioxide limit value, official bans are seen only as a last resort, in order to achieve the planned values.
WhatsApp not free
1. February is the time of the ad-free use of the popular Messenger service WhatsApp is about to end. An agreement between the founders of the App, Brian Acton and Jan Koum, and the current parent company Facebook, according to the App for free and stay ad-free, it was only until the end of January to be valid.

Facebook has already announced to want to Expire of this agreement, advertising in WhatsApp play.
