Fred Schneider, the co-founder of the band from Athens, Georgia, stated in a statement that “No one loves to throw a party like we do.”

The New Wave band emerged in 1979 with songs such as “Rock Lobster”, and the band topped the charts in the late 1980s with party hits like “Love Shack” or “Roam.”

The North American Farewell Tour will take them to 10 cities in the U.S. starting Aug. 22 in Seattle and ending Nov. 11. Boston, Chicago and Washington D.C. will be their stops. The Tubes and KC & The Sunshine Band will support the band.

Tickets can be purchased at TheB-52s.com

“Who would have thought that what began as a way for us to have fun and play music at our house parties in Athens, 1977, would blossom into over 45 years worth of music making and touring the globe. “It’s been cosmic,” stated Kate Pierson, co-founder of the company in a statement.

The band is likely to say goodbye on the road but Fred Armisen will produce a documentary about the members that will be released in 2023. It will be directed by Craig Johnson.
