“I would love Lauren to be on. But it just has to be the right role,” the 56-year-old executive producer told Us on the pink carpet at Mrs. Maisel Skate Night in New York City’s Bryant Park.
Dan Palladino is her husband and co-showrunner. He added: “We want them have the right parts, if they do that, so it’s more than a cameo. It should have a meaning. We found a great thing for Milo. We’re hoping for a few more.
Sherman-Palladino created The Marvelous Miss Maisel as well as Gilmore Girls. She said that she is still very close to the parenthood alum, 54, who played Lorelai Gilmore in the hit series from 2000 through 2007 and again on Netflix’s 2016 revival.
She added, “I miss writing to Lauren Graham.” “Lauren and me are very close and she’s a bit more East Coast than before. … I get to spend more time with her and I find it so much easier to talk to her. It would be strange to have her write it at lunch.
Graham was not in Mrs. The fourth season of Mrs.
Chris Eigeman played Lorelai’s ex Jason Stiles. He also served as a Village Voice Editor, marking a return to acting for this Colorado native. The 57-year old hadn’t appeared on screen since Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life debuted on Netflix in 2016.
Sherman-Palladino told Us that Chris is our neighbor. He’s only two doors away, so he’s not able to hide from us. Chris doesn’t act as much because he directs and writes, and he is such a great writer. We try to respect his other talents but we are like, “Come on!” He is so talented. He is so beautiful. We love to work with him.
She laughed and said, “I think they just kind of camped out front of his home, and he would return home with his child and his dog, and it’d be like, “Really?” It’s like, “Do you want to go inside Chris? Let’s make a deal. ‘”
Graham is not the only Stars Hollow alum the producers hope to bring to 1960s New York City. Sherman-Palladino said, “We’re always discussing Sean Gunn,” Gunn, 47, was the role of Kirk in the series. However, Gunn is harder to book due to his involvement in Guardians of the Galaxy with his brother, director James Gunn.
The six-time Emmy winner jokingly said, “He’s got Marvel movies and they go on forever-f-kingever.” Like, they just go one to the next and it’s his brothers. We can’t say “F-k that guy” because it’s James’ family and he is great. He’s been a difficult one for us.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will finish with season 5. There are very few opportunities to bring in new faces, and the filming is already underway. The end of Midge’s journey may leave time for another Gilmore Girls revival, but Sherman-Palladino cautioned that there are many other factors that could influence that decision.
The Bunheads creator said, “[ Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life] Was so fun, And so to be back it really felt like family reunion.” But everyone’s working on [other projects]. Lauren is returning to The Mighty Ducks, while Alexis [Bledel] will be off in Alexis’ world, doing Handmaid’s Tale, raising children, and being, well, stunning. Kelly Bishop’s show has just been picked up. It’s time to move to Chicago. Yeah. It’s almost like everyone’s working, which can be annoying for us but wonderful for them.
She said, “It sounds like bulls-t at the moment because I keep saying that it,” but she noted that she would join a second Gilmore Girls revival if she knew the cast could get together.
Sherman-Palladino said Us that it was “absolutely not off the table.” “The stars haven’t aligned yet.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season four is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
