With a concert in Thailand, the Berliner Philharmoniker began on Friday a two-week tour of Asia. The appearance in Nakhon Pathom about 50 kilometers away from the capital city of Bangkok – were there for the orchestra, under the direction of Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel on Friday to enthusiastic applause. On the program, the Fifth Symphony of Gustav Mahler, and the Divertimento by Leonard Bernstein.
For the Berlin Philharmonic, this was the first appearance in Thailand at all. More stations to 23. November, Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, and Maksibet various cities in China. The conclusion is in Beijing, where the piano Concerto in c-minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be played. As a soloist – for the first Time on a trip to Asia, the Philharmonic – the Chinese Pianist Lang Lang.
The Berliner Philharmoniker conductor after the departure of Simon Rattle is currently no chief. The Post 2019, Kirill Petrenko, currently General music Director of the Bavarian state Opera takes over in the summer. Dudamel is music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The Venezuelans, but also for ten years a regular guest of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
