With the world premiere of the new film by the Danish Director Lone Scherfig (“Italian for beginners”, “The Riot Club”) in February, the 69. The Berlinale opened.
At the Start of the Berlin film festival on August 7. February (until 17.2.) scherfig’s in New York-playing Drama “The Kindness of Strangers” will be shown. “You feel for the characters, big emotions and subtle Humor promise a wonderful Festival kick-off,” said Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick on Thursday.
“‘The Kindness of Strangers’ is a contemporary Drama, which shows an Ensemble of different characters, who all struggle in their own way in order to survive the New York Winter,” announced the Berlinale for the opening film. “As you meet, you will find exuberance, love and affection.” In front of the camera, Zoe Kazan, Tahar Rahim, Andrea Riseborough, and Bill Nighy.
The English-language production of “The Kindness of Strangers” is also competing in the official competition for the Golden bear. Scherfig multi-Berlinale-was a guest on this already – including the award-winning Dogma Film “Italian for beginners” and “Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself” and “Education”.
