The group Facebook announced on Monday banned permanently from Facebook and Instagram the polemicist French Dieudonne Me Bala Me Bala, for “content mocking the victims of the Holocaust” and “under dehumanizing against the Jews”.

“In accordance with our policy on the individuals and the organizations dangerous, we have permanently banned Dieudonné Me Bala Me Bala of Facebook and Instagram. Ban a person permanently from our services is a decision that we weigh always with caution, but individuals and organizations who attack others on the basis of what they are and have no place on Facebook or on Instagram,” explained a spokesperson for the giant of the digital.

It is not the first ban on Dieudonné Me Bala Me Bala because the polemicist has seen his YouTube channel removed at the end of June by Google, the parent company of the streaming website, who felt that the deletion was a result of a “broken repeated to our YouTube community guidelines”. Dieudonné was followed by almost 1.3 million accounts on the platforms of Facebook and 400 000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.

“Great victory” for the Licra

In a statement, the international League against racism and antisemitism (Licra) sees it as “a great victory and the culmination of a long-term work, carried out by our teams and our lawyers, which has finally paid off”.

“His publications have committed considerable damage and irreparable among the youth and they participated, for years to trivialize the obsession of the jews, and to give a second youth to the holocaust denial of Robert Faurisson. It was time that the disorder ceases, and we are particularly proud to have actively participated to turn off this torrent of hatred”, the organization added.

Facebook had already, in the past, banished from its social media personalities on the far right, in the image of Alain Soral or Hervé Ryssen, as well as organizations such as Generation Identity.
