The musical Descendants was a continuation of fairy tales. It introduced Disney fans to the children of some of its most beloved villains and heroes. Boyce (Carlos), Boyce (Mal), Carson, Stewart (Evie), and Jay (Case) were the children of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, and were also known as the four main Villain Kids, or VKs.
During a February 2020 interview with Teen Vogue Carson reflected fondly on her Descendants Years, explaining that Evie’s capture was the moment where “my life changed forever.”
The Feel to the Beat actress said, “The first day we were shooting the opening number of ‘Rotten To the Core’. My mom flew in and I recall feeling the most butterflies in my stomach. But it was magical. Even though the movie is a fairytale, it was a magical experience to shoot it. It was surreal to be part of something with The Walt Disney Company, where I get the chance to play the daughter a heritage character — it was like being a real-life Disney princess.
The VKs moved from the Isle of the Lost where magic is prohibited to Auradon in the first Descendants movies. They attended Auradon Preparatory School where they met Audrey ( Sarah Jeffrey), Ben( Mitchell Hope), and Jane ( Brenna D’Amico), who were the children of Princess Aurora, Prince Phillip, Queen Belle, Beast, and Fairy Godmother respectively.
The film’s storyline continued through the rest of the films, as viewers saw Ben and Mal, who were fighting against evil, form a romantic relationship. In the final movie , they were finally engaged.
The stars have expressed their regret at not being able continue the trilogy without Boyce, , who died in July 2019, one month before the descendants 3 premier.
