The Italian authorities are trying desperately to get a grip on the spread of the new corona virus. To follow the example of China, says the world health organization (WHO). But how do you find a balance between the need to intervene, and the rights of citizens?

The WHO has praised the “robust Chinese response to the crisis. “Hundreds of thousands of people in China have no COVID-19 suffered due to these aggressive interventions,” said WHO’s the messenger), Bruce Aylward, earlier this week, after a visit to the country. “You know, it’s like I’m COVID-19 would be, I would prefer to be treated in China.”

Aylward went on, in his opinion, to overlook the ethical ramifications that is, the hermetically sealing off of the cities brings with it. The tight control of the Chinese government with information about the virus and the disappearance of critics and the number of cases of fumbling with the statistics, it was not due to him. Beijing, may feel that such actions are politically afford to be, but the place is that it is a lot harder to deal with.

The Italian government has, in the meantime, a number of drastic measures have been taken. Eleven of the towns and villages in the province and Lombardy region have been under quarantine. About 50,000 people have their homes, not to, under penalty of a fine or a prison sentence. The roads have been blocked by the police and the armed forces. Events are taking place in the North of Italy have been cancelled, and the carnival of Venice to a halt. The museums and other attractions are keeping their doors closed.

in the Meantime, in Italy, 323 cases of infection with the COVID-19 are attached. Eleven people have died from the effects of the virus.

‘Patient zero’ might be missed by a no-fly zone
The Italian procedures may be international, to praise, or to criticism as well. There have been proven to be mistakes made. As put in the hospital in the place of Codogno, the first well-known Italian coronapatiƫnt is not in the quarantine, which he and fellow patients, doctors, and nurses, was able to infect them.

as A second point of criticism concerns the quest to find patient zero, the person who is the new corona virus in Italy brought in. That is, it is still not found, and it is possible that the Italian government did that to themselves. A controversial ban on flights to and from China, by the end of January has been set, the common people, through a third country to go to Italy and able to travel. As a result, it is not possible for arrivals to closely monitor and escaped from patient to zero as possible on detection.

in Order for the virus to spread, it is necessary to show how it has spread. As long as the patient zero is not known, it is missing a few links in the chain.

in South Korea, is a better parallel to the case of Italy than in China,

South Korea is currently the worst affected country is China. The number of confirmed besmettingsgevallen was there sat night 1.261, of which twelve proved to be fatal. As a liberal democracy, it is the case of Italy and a number of related partner, then it is a totalitarian China.

in South Korea, critics are quite severe in their judgments, and their government is lagging behind the developments, say it. The number of confirmed besmettingsgevallen ran last week, in a remarkably short period, after the South Korean health care system is in movement, and there was a large scale was put to the test. The corona virus appeared to have spread to every province and major city in the country.

as a South Korean hospitals are beating the alarm about the shortage of personnel and goods, such as bedding and clothing.

just this past Sunday, the level was increased and gave the authorities the power of schools to close and traffic to regulate. To the borders of China are open and the South Korean government will let providers decide whether or not they have their scheduled services into and out of Daegu is temporarily discontinued.

Life goes on by fits and starts, in ‘focus may’ Daegu

The epicenter of the South Korean outbreak, the city of Daegu (2.5 million inhabitants) in the south-east. In the meantime, the local authorities were there to take bolder steps. In the body, from the those who arrive by train or, if it is measured, workers in protective gear spraying public areas with disinfectants, and for the residents to remain as much as possible.

But the city has not formally cut off from the outside world. Citizens are still free to move around, and not every employer shall, in Daegu, and complies with the recommendations for workers in their homes to stay in. Fragments of a normal life as usual.

The governments of Italy and South-Korea have one more problem: the spread of the corona virus requires drastic steps, but in the space of a modern democracy, this offer is very limited. It is likely that the two are not the only countries in which there is an answer to that, before the crisis, the virus will be contained.

Those who have no symptoms, is it just a risk of infection. A person can have, on average, two-to-three-infect others (it is less than, for example, measles, mumps). And this number is declining, however, due to all the safety precautions. By far, most of the people have a light (- like) symptoms. Almost all the deaths involve elderly or already ill people.
