A letter from the French poet Charles Baudelaire has made at auction, three times its estimated price. The document from 1845 was sold on Sunday for about 234,000 euros to a private collector, as the Osenat auction house in Fontainebleau said in Paris. The letter had been estimated at 60,000 to 80,000 euros.
In the Letter to his mistress Jeanne Duval announced Baudelaire on November 30. June, 1845, to want to kill. “If you receive this letter I shall be dead,” he wrote, among other things.
