“so We would like that they continue to cooperate and to find solutions that do not involve the need to have ships of war, or aircraft that are deployed in an environment that is less than cooperative”, a-t-he concluded.

Support to Greece

In a context of growing tensions between Turkey and France, particularly in relation to divergent interests in Libya, France has deployed temporarily two hunters Burst and two buildings of the Navy in the eastern Mediterranean to support Greece in its dispute with Turkey over exploration of natural gas resources in the sea.

The discovery in recent years of vast gas deposits in the eastern Mediterranean has sharpened the appetite of the riparian countries, and heightened tensions between Turkey and Greece, relations, regularly punctuated by crises.

The situation deteriorated on Monday after the deployment by Ankara of a vessel for underwater exploration, escorted by military vessels, in the south-east of the Aegean sea, an area of the Mediterranean, fought and rich in gas deposits. The Greek navy is also present in the area to “monitor” the activities in turkey, according to Athens.
