SUBJECT BAC SVT. The SVT specialty test at the baccalaureate is scheduled for March 20 and 21. While it’s review time, what to expect?

It’s time for revisions for Terminale students. In 10 days, the final exams of the specialty tests begin, counting for the final mark of the baccalaureate. Among the 11 courses available to them, some have chosen, among other things, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT). A discipline which, for the Ministry of National Education, “allows both the understanding of scientific objects and methods and education in the field of the environment, health and safety.” The fateful date of the event is fast approaching since it will take place on Monday March 20 and Tuesday March 21, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in mainland France and Mayotte and from 8 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in the DROM-COM (local time) . But what might the subject look like in 2023?

Throughout the year, the high school students who chose the SVTs worked on three themes: “The Earth, life and the organization of living beings”, “Contemporary planetary issues”, “Human bodies and health”. In detail, it was a question of genetics, geology, plants, climate, nervous systems, muscles or even behavior. What will students be assessed on? In 2022, the candidates were offered exercises concerning human muscle issues, climate change, geology or even nutrition. The test is divided into two parts: a first scientific question (to choose between two) and a writing exercise from documents. Want to know the answer keys for the SVT specialty test that took place in 2022? They are available below. The corrections are those of an associate professor of SVT who, like the candidates, studied the 2022 baccalaureate exam. The answers are provided in partnership with Studyrama:

In 2022, the first subject of the SVT specialty test at the baccalaureate included a first exercise with, as desired, the modulation of muscle contraction and the climatic variation in the Carboniferous. For exercise 2, the students had been confronted with a single subject: allogamy in angiosperms. They had been able to rely on a corpus of 4 documents including a certain number of graphics, diagrams and tables. For the second series of SVT tests, the candidates had to perform an exercise on the regulation of blood sugar during a fast, but they then had the freedom to choose which subject to cover between an exercise on geology and the climate and another on flowers and the genetic diversity of plants.

The results of the life and earth sciences specialty exam will be available on July 4, 2023, at the same time as the results of the other exams (French, philosophy and major oral). The fact that specialty courses are evaluated one month earlier does not affect the publication of the results.
