One of the most popular survival games of recent years on PC celebrates the arrival of its second installment. Sons of the Forest will be available in a few hours, we take stock of this expected release.
Among the most popular genres for PC gaming, survival games always gather more and more players. Carried by modest and unexpected titles like Greenhell or Valheim, this extremely popular category always offers more realism over time, not hesitating to integrate horror elements to push players to their limits. Witness to the success of the survival-horror genre, The Forest, a particularly realistic and raw survival experience that has made a name for itself in the Steam catalog. The good news is that the sequel to this survival game will be available in a few hours, in the form of an ambitious cooperative game: Sons of the Forest.
Resuming without hesitation the graphic ambition of its elder, Sons of the Forest demonstrates an extremely impressive technique. From the myriad of new animations pushing crafting and combat to the maximum of realism, to the forest or troglodyte environments more real than life, the ambition of the new title from Endnight Games is palpable. The game plunges you once again on a desert island, this time in search of a missing billionaire. Of course, your stay will be very far from being heavenly since you will have to find the means to survive against the elements, but also against a myriad of cannibal natives hiding much more twisted secrets. The game gives you a sandbox-like adventure while maintaining a storyline that pulls you from one end of the island to the other, much like its predecessor.
Endnight Games probably suffered from the ambition of this new title, especially on a technical level. The game has seen its release postponed before being set for February 23, 2023 at 7 p.m. (French time). The game will only be released on PC for now, in an early-access version which justifies its relatively low price (see below). Steam will be the only platform to play the game on. Regarding the content of the game at launch, Endnight Games has confirmed that co-op features will be fully available along with a large majority of the planned environments.
If The Forest, the first of its name, only later integrated co-operative game features, Sons of the Forest takes a completely different direction by including multiplayer directly in its first version. Of course, the game comes out again in early access but will include many options including that of being able to play in cooperation up to four players according to Endnight Games.
We told you just a little above, Sons of the Forest is unfortunately reserved only for PC players for the moment. The game will be available on the platform that saw the success of its elder, Steam, for the modest price of €29.99. Enough to give you good reasons to embark on this mysterious island and brave all the dangers.
