Former England international, third line wing Tom Wood (Northampton) announced on Monday that he would retire at the end of the season.
“Obviously retiring is a difficult and emotional decision for any player,” said the 35-year-old, who has been sidelined since February with a shoulder injury against Leicester.
“Northampton Saints have been an important part of my life and I have had special memories there. I feel privileged to have been able to wear this jersey for the past 12 seasons, ”continued Wood, who played from 2007 to 2010 at the Worcester Warriors, where he was trained.
Captain of the national team three times, Wood totaled 50 caps with the XV à la rose between 2011 and 2017, participated in two World Cups and twice won the Six Nations Tournament (2011, 2017).
