Hugo Gaston back in the third round at Roland-Garros. As in 2020, where he had burst into the round of 16 Porte d’Auteuil, the Toulousain won his second match of the fortnight by largely dominating his 32nd final against the Argentinian Pedro Cachin, swept away in two hours of game (6-4, 6-2, 6-4).

A much shorter playing time in the first round, where Gaston had drawn to the end of his strength to overcome Alex de Minaur in a melting Suzanne-Lenglen. This time, still in the same arena, the 74th in the world had much less difficulty overtaking the modest 153rd in the world, lucky loser from qualifying.

A completely different task now awaits Gaston, who will face the Danish nugget Holger Rune (40th), winner in turn of Denis Shapovalov (14th) and Henri Laaksonen (96th), all without dropping a single set.
