Trying to put out the fire, Eliane Houlette was clarified on Friday that these “pressures” were “not on the facts alleged against François Fillon nor on the merits of the prosecution,” and “were of a purely procedural nature”. “François Fillon has not been indicted at the request or under the pressure of the executive power”, she insisted.

The attorney general of Paris, Catherine Champrenault, said “to regret that the regular functioning of the public ministry is equated with pressure.”
