Logitech, always eager to offer new high-end gaming equipment, has unveiled the Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard. We were able to test the latter for several weeks.

Logitech has made a series of announcements and releases of new equipment for gamers for this year 2023. Among the latest products in the G range (intended for demanding and professional gamers), we find in particular the Logitech G Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard released in September 2023.

Available in three colors (white, pink, and here our test copy in black), the G Pro A hell of a budget which confirms its status as a “premium keyboard” which is intended above all for gamers who want to equip themselves with quality equipment. We were able to lay our hands on the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard for several weeks to confirm whether or not this product lived up to the brand’s ambitions.

The design of the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed is reminiscent of other products from the brand, including the G715 that we were able to test a few months ago. The keyboard has a TKL format (without numeric keypad) which allows it to not take up too much space and to be easy to reposition or transport for gaming sessions wherever you are.

Everything about the design of the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed exudes solidity and a premium feel. The keyboard already weighs a certain amount which may suit some players (difficult to drag it on your desk with a wrong movement) as well as displease some (who might appreciate being able to move it easily and quickly). This weight could also be a certain handicap for players who like to carry their equipment with them to go to LAN for example.

In addition to its most classic keys, the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard has a few additional functions located on its upper edge. These are the same ones that can be found on a large number of the brand’s keyboards with control of your music and its volume, your connection (Bluetooth or Lightspeed) and the brightness of the product. These buttons, while quite practical, prove to be a little too hidden behind the huge keys of the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed to be used quickly.

The G Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard has fully customizable backlighting using an application dedicated to Logitech products. The latter provides a nice “pro gamer” effect, but which will have a significant impact on the device’s battery.

We will regret the absence of wrist rests, especially at such a price. The G715 that we tested a few months ago notably offered this small accessory which comes in handy during long gaming or work sessions.

The layout of the G Pro The latter are pleasant and will suit different user profiles, although the absence of wrist rests will be particularly felt with the highest configuration.

The G Pro X TKL Lightspeed is compatible with several types of switches… Except for European markets which have to make do with brown tactile models. The pressure required to activate the buttons is therefore greater than for linear or clicky models but provides very good feedback with each use. Typing is pleasant and feels great when it comes to typing a long text or performing a series of precise actions on a video game.

The touchscreen model isn’t the loudest, but it’s not the quietest either. Forget the idea of going incognito in your open space if you want to take out the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed for a discreet game during your lunch break. A detail, but which may annoy some people, especially for the price range of the Logitech keyboard which competes with devices from Razer or Asus.

The G Pro X TKL Lightspeed keyboard is compatible with Logitech’s GHub software for customization. This program, usable with a large majority of the brand’s products, allows you to take the experience even further by configuring the keyboard in more detail.

Once the keyboard has been added to your profile, the GHub software allows you to modify the backlighting of the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed according to several choices (fixed colors, depending on the game launched, etc.). The GHub interface is still simple to understand and master, which allows you to quickly review the different possible options for configuring the keyboard.

The option that will interest pro gamers the most is obviously the possibility of creating different shortcuts and macros. These can trigger multiple options such as a combination of spells on an MMORPG or signals sent to your allies on a MOBA.

It’s hard to be choosy about the latest keyboard from Logitech. Featuring a high-end finish despite a very sober design, the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed stands out as an excellent choice for demanding gamers who want to equip themselves with a solid keyboard to follow them on the move.

We may regret certain choices made by the brand (the absence of a wrist rest, only one type of switch available in Europe, buttons that are not very prominent, etc.) concerning the G Pro X TKL Lightspeed. The fact remains that it is an excellent keyboard for those who have a sufficient budget to equip themselves (we are still talking about 229 euros!).
