According to L’Équipe and confirmed by RMC Sport, Pascal Dupraz will not go beyond his contract, which expires on June 30, at AS Saint-Étienne. The Savoyard coach, appointed six months earlier, failed in his quest to stay in Ligue 1, after the defeat in the second leg against AJ Auxerre (1-1, 4-5 on penalties). The Greens will return to Ligue 2 for the first time since their rise to the top flight in 2004.

To rebuild, Saint-Étienne hopes to be able to count on Laurent Batlles. The former midfielder had finished his career in Forez before starting his retraining there. He led the ASSE reserve team for a long time before a first experience as head coach in Troyes, in 2019, which he had promoted to Ligue 1. RMC Sport reveals that Batlles (46) must meet Jean-François Soucasse , executive chairman of the club, on Tuesday.

Batlles left his post at Troyes in December 2021 to everyone’s surprise and by “mutual agreement” according to the club. It could therefore bounce back with the Greens that the shareholders, Roland Romeyer and Bernard Caïazzo, have been seeking to sell for a long time.

In the wake of relegation on Sunday, the two shareholders announced “important news concerning the future of the club and ours” to come soon. According to L’Équipe, if no agreement is reached with Batlles, Michel Der Zakarian, stationed in Brest, and Sabri Lamouchi, currently free, would be the main alternatives considered.
