Curb Records in Nashville, which is owned by Weaver, released a statement Monday morning. He was 42.
The statement stated that “We are devastated by the loss and trust the Lord to guide” “All your support, prayers, and thoughts have been and will continue to be greatly appreciated.”
The band posted that Weaver was admitted to hospital in December after he suffered complications from the virus. According to Big Daddy Weave, Weaver was discharged from intensive care following dialysis treatment in August.
“I’m so sorry I have to share this news, but I’m so happy to celebrate where he’s right now,” brother Mike Weaver, co-founding member of the band shared via Facebook. “My brother Jay was with Jesus just a few hours ago.”
Mike Weaver said, “You guys helped him through so many. He was used by the Lord in a powerful way, I can tell you. He was on the road for many years. Anyone who has ever been in touch with him will know how genuine his faith was in Jesus. Even though COVID may be gone, I believe Jesus was there to capture him. I know he sees things I long to see. My heart is broken.”
Big Daddy Weave was founded in 1998 from Mobile, Alabama. Jay Weaver was born in Navarre Florida and grew up with his family. The rest of Big Daddy Weave live in Middle Tennessee.

A handful of singles have been sent by the group to No. The group has sent a few singles to No. 1 on the Christian radio charts. These include “Everytime I Breathe”, “My Story,” and “I Know”.
After Mike Weaver’s confirmation of his death, leaders in the format offered condolences to the band.
K-Love, a Christian radio station, shared this via social media: “Please join me as we pray to Jay’s wife, his three children and the Weaver Family.”
The Dove Awards stated that they prayed for comfort for the family of the deceased, but rejoiced in the fact that he is now whole with his Heavenly Father.
Jay Weaver’s wife Emily Weaver, and his three children Madison, Makenzie and Nathan Weaver, are still with him.
