Inflation accelerated again in France in May, to 5.2% over one year, according to an initial estimate released on Tuesday by INSEE.
The 5% inflation mark, clearly exceeded due in particular to higher energy prices, had not been crossed since September 1985. In April, inflation over one year had established at 4.8%, already the highest in nearly 37 years.
