The Eiffel Tower turned off

The Eiffel Tower went off this Thursday evening at midnight, while the City of Paris and the Region Île-de-France have announced a number of financial aid to the Lebanese. “I spoke this morning with Marwan Abboud, the governor of Beirut, and Rami Adwan, ambassador of Lebanon, to express in the name of Paris and all Parisians, all of our condolences and our thoughts for the victims, the injured and their relatives”, had responded Wednesday on Twitter, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.

And as it is now of use in times of disaster, “this Wednesday evening from midnight, we éteindrons the Eiffel Tower, to pay tribute to all the victims”, she added. The City of Paris has released an emergency aid outstanding of eur 100 000 to help Beirut.

A rally in Montmartre

With Paris still, a rally was also organized on the butte Montmartre in tribute to the victims. It included members of the lebanese community in France. Candles were lit and flags lebanese have been lying on the ground.

The mayor of Tel Aviv lit up in the colors of Lebanon

The metropolis in israel, Tel-Aviv was lit up on Wednesday night the city hall in the colors of the lebanese flag in solidarity with the country of the cedars, still technically in a state of war with Israel. In the evening, the wide facade of the town hall is lit up two red bars surrounding a green cedar on a white background, while the Israelis gathered near the Rabin square in solidarity with Lebanon.

“This evening, we will enlighten the town hall with the lebanese flag. Humanity comes before any conflict, and our hearts are with the lebanese people, following the terrible disaster that has struck,” was reported before the event on Twitter Ron Huldai, the mayor of the metropolis coastal israeli, a member of the labour Party.
