After the ousting of Corinne Deacon, Hervé Renard was appointed as the new coach of the French women’s team this Thursday, March 30. He is expected to announce his first roster on Friday, March 31.

Fired from the French women’s team on March 9, Corinne Deacon left the Bleues without a coach. A case which was settled on Thursday March 30 after the exceptional meeting of the FFF comex which met to officially appoint Hervé Renard as coach. Engaged with Saudi Arabia, the Frenchman resigned from his post on March 28. The technician would have, according to the president of the Saudi Federation, sent a letter. “Renard informed me five days before the start of the rally that he had received an offer he could not refuse,” said Yasser Al Misehal. “I asked him to think about it and not to rush but his decision was already made. We couldn’t force him to stay” he would have testified to the Goal media.

Now at the head of the French women’s team, Hervé Renard will make his first public appearance on Friday at midday to unveil his first list for the friendly matches against Colombia (April 7) and Canada (April 11). He is likely to recall former major players for the French eleven like Wendie Renard who had retired from international football in order to push former coach Corinne Deacon out. Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto who had followed the movement of the Lyon captain will probably return to the selection. But for Katoto it might not be for now. The PSG striker is still injured. Midfielder Amandine Henry, who had a conflicted relationship with Hervé Renard’s predecessor, could also return, as could striker Eugénie Le Sommer, who has not been recalled since spring 2021. According to Le Parisien, Hervé Renard would have taken the time to call certain players to reassure them.

Arrived late, the latter will therefore have the difficult task of straightening out a dislocated formation less than four months before the Football World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (July 20 to August 20). But exploits, Hervé Renard has already accomplished by becoming the first coach in history to win two CAN with two different selections or more recently with Saudi Arabia by beating Argentina at the World Cup in 2022. He likes these challenges. Her passion for football and her tough character may meet the expectations of rebellious players who felt at the time, as Wendie Renard explained in her tweet of February 24, 2023, “can no longer endorse the current system, far from the requirements required by the highest level”.

Hervé Renard must immediately (March 31) announce the future list of the French women’s team with friendly matches scheduled for next week against Colombia first then against Canada. Appointed as the successor to Corinne Deacon, Hervé Renard will unveil his list alongside the interim president of the FFF, Philippe Diallo

No TV channel has planned for the moment to broadcast the new list of Hervé Renard which will however be broadcast by the site or the social networks of the FFF.
