Difficulties accessing Gmail, but also Google Drive, were reported by many Internet users around the world this Monday, February 27, 2023. What’s going on?

[Updated Feb 27 @ 3:04 PM] “Is it me or is Gmail down?” On Twitter, many Internet users, French and foreign, have noticed in recent minutes that a breakdown affects several Google services. The Internet giant’s messaging service and its Google Drive service seem to be the main impacted. As noted by the Downdetector site, more than 1,000 reports of problems on Gmail have been made since 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023. At this time, it is impossible, in several countries around the world, to send or receive e-mail. -mails, or even to simply access their inbox.

In addition, outages have therefore also been identified on Google Drive, making it impossible to access documents stored online. On the other hand, it should be noted that YouTube, which is also a Google service, is not affected by the outage since no report related to problems accessing the site has been reported.

The failure that affects Gmail seems to come from Google’s servers. Indeed, the message displayed by the site is a 502 error, corresponding to a problem from the servers of the site on which one wishes to access. So there’s no need to worry about your computer or smartphone, it doesn’t come from you but from the American company. Patience is therefore essential. At this stage, Google has not yet officially communicated on the origin of these difficulties in accessing its services, which has lasted for a little over an hour.

In December 2020, also in the early afternoon, Google suffered a global outage lasting approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. The majority of its services, such as Youtube or Gmail had been affected. The American giant then mentioned problems related to its identification system and internal storage, before a return to normal.
