How voting for The Best FIFA Football Awards works
FIFA relies on the votes of coaches, national team captains, journalists (one per country) and Internet users on the FIFA website. The voters, all equal, have the task of registering three names in descending order. The first choice is worth 5 points, while the second is worth 3 points and the last 1 point. All the people who participate in electing the future winners are free to vote except when it comes to designating themselves. This is prohibited. The Puskas prize is an exception to the rule since it is the public who designates the best goal.
The Best FIFA Football Awards is a ceremony organized by FIFA since 2017. It emerged after the World Football Federation lost the right to award the Ballon d’Or. Today, France Football magazine has taken up the torch and is awarding the most beautiful individual award. FIFA decided on very similar principles to donate its own trophies.
FIFA, based on the results and performances of each, rewards several personalities of world football. For this edition, in the men’s category, FIFA had taken into account individual performances between August 8, 2021 and December 18, 2022 due to the FIFA World Cup. For women, the international federation had taken into account the performances of the players from August 7, 2021 to July 31, 2022 (Euro final).
