NEW RENAULT 4L ELECTRIC. Renault announces a novelty Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival, an event of which the brand is a partner. Renault should parade 4L there on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the original model, but could the brand also present a new concept, the 4Ever, surfing on the neo-retro effect by transforming the iconic 4L into an electric model? ? Here are the first information.

After the electric Renault 5, will the Renault 4L be the second iconic model of the Diamond brand to be reborn in a modern 100% electric form? Renault and its new boss Luca De Meo have been multiplying winks and clues for several weeks. During his visit to the new electric battery factory in Douai on May 28, Emmanuel Macron was greeted by an old 4L, converted to electric. This 4L in the colors of the Presidency of the Republic was not just a small reminder of the anniversary celebrated this year by Renault: the 60th anniversary of the 4L launched in France in 1961. In the momentum of its plan ” Renaulution”, Luca De Meo has planned several launches and the electric R5 will be followed by a 4L concept, which could be called “Renault 4Ever”, according to the brand’s latest communications. The date of the Munich show (which replaces the Frankfurt show) at the start of the 2021 school year seemed set.

Unless the Diamond brand takes advantage of the Cannes festival, of which it is a partner, to advance this “reveal”. A Twitter post published on July 7 sows doubt, a few days after the disclosure of the first silhouette photos and an unprecedented light signature. More likely, Renault should celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 4L with a parade of several vehicles. The opportunity also to remember the good memories of 4L enthusiasts… and to make them wait a few more weeks? Answer this Thursday!

At various events organized since the start of 2021, Renault has repeatedly teased the arrival of 100% electric models reminiscent of the brand’s former glories. This was the case at the end of June during an “eways” conference where Renault unveiled the light signature of this new, still mysterious model. No doubt, however, given the design, it is indeed a reinterpretation of the 4L!

This visual was accompanied by several others, including one alongside the electric R5 already unveiled at the start of the year.
