In summer, there’s nothing better than a glass of cold water to cool off! But you forgot to put a bottle of water in the fridge… Fortunately, there is a very simple trick that will allow you to cool a bottle of water in just a few minutes.
Coming home from work and craving a tall glass of cold water, but no one has put the water back in the fridge and you’re out of ice cubes in the freezer? Don’t panic, you won’t have to drink lukewarm water or wait an hour for your water to cool, we have a solution. All you need are a few sheets of paper towels or paper towels, and a freezer! Nothing’s easier…
The trick also works for alcoholic or sugary drinks. Take your bottle of champagne or rosé, your bottle of soda or your bottles of beer*, and wrap them in very wet paper towels before putting them in the freezer. To keep your guests waiting, you can offer them some treats to nibble on, and voila! Here is the user guide:
If you don’t have paper towels or paper towels, you can even replace them with a tea towel.
Be careful, in periods of high temperatures or heat waves, it is not recommended to drink ice water to quench your thirst. Prefer water at room temperature. The thermal shock generated by very cold water acts on your body and causes an imbalance. The organism then reacts by producing energy to regain its temperature of 37 degrees, which interrupts the sweating process of its body which was used to eliminate heat. So it’s counterproductive.
Our advice for staying hydrated in the summer? Drink water at room temperature, or even milk. Scottish researchers from the University of St Andrews demonstrated in a study published in “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” that skimmed milk was the most hydrating drink (ahead of water) thanks to its lactose, protein, sodium and fat. All these elements combined give it a more effective moisturizing action than water.
