China has relaxed the conditions of entry of nationals from 36 european countries, facilitating access to visas for the persons already in possession of a residence permit, but blocked abroad for four months because of an epidemic.

in China, where the novel coronavirus has made its emergence in late 2019, has closed its borders at the end of march while the epidemic was not at home, but spread in many countries. Of the foreign holders of a residence permit, the chinese are stuck outside of the country without being able to return to China.

But several of the embassies of China in Europe have published on Wednesday on their website a press release stating that the persons in possession of a residence permit of current validity could now “get a chinese visa as it’s free”. Among the countries concerned are Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Since the end of march, some foreigners were able to return in China, as diplomats, or some businessmen, technicians or teachers. But they needed a letter of invitation from local authorities, which could prove to be complicated to get, and the visa was paid.

The statement released by the embassy of Germany said that this letter of invitation is no longer required to obtain a visa. Candidates in return will, however, need to find a plane ticket, the prices of which have soared in recent months. In addition to the closure of the borders, Beijing has ordered the end of march a drastic reduction in air links international, limited to one per company, per country and per week.
