CAN 2024 now has its official dates as several teams have already qualified.

The official dates of CAN 2024 have been revealed. The African competition will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire. Initially, the tournament was to be held from June 23 to July 23, 2023. Due to complicated weather conditions, CAN 2023 has been postponed to January 2024. Five cities have been chosen to host the 52 matches that will animate for a month the tournament. West Africa (Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro, Yamoussoukro).

Several nations have qualified in March 2023. Among them is Algeria, which has won all of its matches. The Fennecs will obviously be among the favorites for this final phase with players who play in the biggest clubs in Europe like Riyad Mahrez or Ismaël Bennacer.

The Moroccans also did not lose in Group K consisting of only three teams. Zimbabwe, having not yet met the criteria required by the FIFA Congress, was excluded in May 2022. Two victories over Liberia and South Africa therefore allowed the Atlas Lions to qualify for the Ivory Coast. They will undoubtedly be the big favorites after the AFCON as Morocco took on another dimension by becoming the first African country to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup. On RMC, central defender Romain Saïss thinks that his training “can no longer hide. We must accept these responsibilities, this status of favorite. We are thirsty for victories, trophies”. Coach Walid Regragui after Morocco’s victory over Brazil in a friendly also felt that with his squad, they were “favorites”.

There is also the Senegal of Sadio Mané who validated his ticket. The title holders largely dominated the L group. At the same time, Tunisia also qualified for the next CAN. It is the only team that has not conceded in this qualifying phase. In Pool K, South Africa took advantage of the pool being reduced to move up the list of countries that will participate in the next AFCON. Burkina Faso, which was off to a good start, also provided the essentials and will be part of the trip to Côte d’Ivoire.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, winners of the competition in 1992 and 2015. The competition will take place in 5 cities: Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro and Yamoussoukro.

AFCON 2023, which takes place in Ivory Coast, will be played in January 2024 from January 13 to February 11. Patrice Motsepe the South African leader and President of the African Football Confederation (CAF) explained during a press conference held in July 2022 in Rabat, that the bad climatic conditions in the host country, with a rainy season very marked, justified the delay of one semester of the CAN.
