An attack of terrible violence. A 45-year-old man and his partner were injured on Saturday March 16 after being attacked with a knife in front of a supermarket in the town of Onet-le-Château (Aveyron), reveals the daily Center Presse Aveyron. It was around 7:15 p.m. when an altercation broke out between a couple leaving a Super U supermarket and an individual driving in a reckless manner in the latter’s parking lot. The driver, annoyed by the remark that the couple had just made to him, then got out of his vehicle to attack them with a knife, injuring them both.
Injured multiple times in the chest, the forty-year-old was quickly taken care of by the firefighters dispatched to the scene. Despite the first aid provided by the emergency services, the man, in cardiorespiratory arrest, did not survive his injuries. He was pronounced dead around 8:35 p.m. His wife, who was slightly injured in the abdomen, was hospitalized. The couple’s son, aged 13 and present at the time of the incident without being injured, was taken care of by a psychological emergency unit, reports BFMTV, citing a police source.
The main suspect in this case was arrested near the scene shortly after the incident. Aged 23, he was arrested in possession of a bladed weapon which was seized by the police, continues BFMTV. Unfavorably known to the police, the individual, of French nationality, was, according to the first elements of the investigation, under the influence of alcohol at the time of the tragedy. To our colleagues, the mayor of Onet-le-Château expressed his emotion, deploring a “terrible attack” and a “despicable act”. For his part, the general director of Système U stores, Dominique Schelcher, sent in a post on the social network X all his “support” and his “thoughts” to the victims of this “tragic attack”.
