This Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14, demonstrations are expected throughout France at the call of the French Federation of Angry Bikers, which is protesting against the entry into force of compulsory technical inspections for two-wheelers.

At the call of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC), 20,000 drivers are expected to mobilize across France this weekend to protest against the entry into force of compulsory technical inspections for two-wheelers. This measure is the result of a European directive, already implemented throughout the continent, explains TF1 info.

2,000 bikers are expected in Paris, according to a police source, the site reports. Around ten actions will take place this Saturday, April 13, in other large cities, notably near Lille, in Nantes, Rennes, Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon, Grenoble, Montpellier, Toulouse and even Bordeaux. Others will take place on Sunday in Marseille, Carcassonne and near Narbonne.

The measure, scheduled to come into force on Monday April 15, concerns more than 3 million so-called L category vehicles: scooters, motorcycles, tricycles and carts. Until now, they have escaped the compulsory technical inspection introduced in 1992 for cars, but from Monday, they will be required to pass their first regulatory technical inspection, otherwise, drivers risk a fine of 135 euros or immobilization of the vehicle .

The FFMC considers that the technical inspection of two-wheelers is expensive and unnecessary. “There is much better to do to improve the safety and environmental performance of motorized two-wheelers,” assures the federation which had filed an emergency appeal, aiming to suspend the measure. However, it was rejected on Thursday April 11 by the Council of State.
