A very, very emotional and Shaquille O’neal in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the U.s. broadcaster, TNT, said goodbye to his former team-mate Kobe Bryant, who on Sunday passed away at a helikopterongeluk.
“It’s been a long time since I had such a severe pain I felt before,” said the 47-year-old O’neal, with tears in his eyes during a special broadcast on TNT, the channel which is the former topbasketballer employed for many years as an analyst.
The tribute took place on the field, the STAPLES Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers. O’neal was at the club between 1996 and 2004, Bryant’s is one of the best duos in the history of the NBA. She also led the Lakers in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and the title of the North American basketbalcompetitie.
“Our names will forever be connected to each other to continue,” said O’neal, who on Sunday at first did not believe that Bryant was dead. “I’ve never been there. It is very difficult for me, and that we have the greatest Laker of all time have been lost. I’ve got my little brother to be lost; and that I will definitely change that.”

“There was always a mutual respect between us,”
It’s no secret that O’neal and Bryant as the two have very different personalities frequently fall in to the regular season. That was a major reason for the departure of O’neal to the Miami Heat in 2004, and that there is an end to the dominance of the Lakers in the NBA.
“People will often ask you to go to our relationship, and I have to tell them that we are two independent people who are in a certain way, just didn’t want to do, and certain things were said to each other,” said O’neal on Tuesday.
“But there was always respect for each other. And on the field was always in, but in order to win. I truly believe that we are the most dominant duo ever had. I still can’t believe that Kobe could have died.”
Bryant, who throughout his entire career with the Lakers, remained, passed away Sunday at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash on a hill near Los Angeles, california. His thirteen year old daughter, Gianna, and seven others died in the crash.
