At the end of the week, the rain should disappear thanks to the arrival of a new anticyclone, but the drop in temperatures brings a local risk of frost.
The sudden drop in temperatures was felt across the entire country at the start of the week. From the northern tips to the south of France, La Chaîne Météo has noted a drop of around ten degrees and is forecasting frosts in places for the weekend.
The rain, which reappeared on Monday, should once again be chased away by the Atlantic anticyclone for the weekend. The weather will be calmer and drier with still wind in the north and south. From Thursday, showers and showers should be limited to the east of the country and gradually reach Germany and Belgium. In Savoie and the Pyrenees, snow will continue to fall from 1000 meters above sea level and temperatures between -2 and -5°C could affect high mountain towns.
In the central and eastern departments, the sky will be clearer, but the very winter temperatures could lead to the presence of frost from the north of the Grand-Est region to the south of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the entire Pyrenean basin. Negative temperatures will be felt all along the Italian and Spanish borders. The Weather Channel warns of the risk of frost in the plains.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, the sky should clear up to cause temperatures to drop even further. On Friday morning, the risk of frost should shift towards the south of the northern half of the country to focus on the departments of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Auverge-Rhône-Alpes and northern Occitanie. Even if it is currently only hypothetical, the presence of local frosts could harm winegrowers and farmers. Here again temperatures between 2°C and -5°C are to be expected.
In the rest of the country, the weather will be cool and temperatures should be around 4 to 9°C in the morning, reaching 12 to 20°C in some regions, according to Météo France. The weekend should not be much warmer, but the Atlantic anticyclone will chase away the rain still present in the east on Friday. The wind will continue to blow across most of the country.
