Shocking announcement from Gaumont this Tuesday. On X, the French cinema giant announced that it was developing a series on Brigitte Macron.

After a potential appearance in season 4 of Emily in Paris, Brigitte Macron should soon have HER series! If the first lady could play her own role, according to information from the Daily Mail, in the famous American-French series broadcast on Netflix, Gaumont announced this Tuesday, April 16 on wife of President Emmanuel Macron will not be an extra or actress, but will indeed be the main protagonist. The series should consist of six 45-minute episodes, Gaumont said in his tweet. It will trace the story of Brigitte Macron from the meeting of the woman who was still only a French teacher, in 1992-1993, with the young Emmanuel during a theater workshop, up to the two five-year terms of President Macron.

The series is written by Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau, Gaumont also indicated. Two co-authors to whom we owe the series I Lied and Mirage. Questioned by our colleagues from Le Figaro, screenwriter Bénédicte Charles said she was aware of the stakes of such a project. “It’s a huge gamble,” she assumed, even describing the subject as “touchy” (“sensitive”, in French). And to explain the complexity of the work: “We were initially a little blocked. We had to be able to grasp the subject and free ourselves from it to propose a fiction.”

If the series will mainly retrace the life of the one who was first Brigitte Trogneux, it will still focus mainly on her life with Emmanuel Macron, immediately leaving a good place for the President of the Republic in the story. However, the episodes should also include “flashbacks, in order to tell a certain history of France, that of the 70s-80s-90s”, explains Bénédicte Charles to Le Figaro. The first lady will therefore remain the main subject. “Brigitte Macron is a fascinating character, we wanted to approach her in a romantic, almost melodramatic way, because of the romantic breath of her destiny,” confides the screenwriter.

What about the actors to play Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron? At this point, the mystery remains. The series does not yet have a broadcaster. For its part, the Élysée Palace defends itself. He wouldn’t be in this story at all. “We are not associated with this project which we learned about today through the press”, assures those around the first lady, echoed by Allociné.
