Here’s an inexpensive technique to get rid of stubborn oil stains on clothes. You will only need two kitchen products.
Grease stains can be a horror to clean, especially when you have kids who get stains at every meal. Whether you’re enjoying a salad dressed with olive oil or a greasy pizza, the last thing you want is a greasy stain on your favorite tee or shirt. A simple trip through the washing machine is not enough to eliminate it. Fortunately, social networks are full of household tips.
Mila, a mother, revealed to her followers on her TikTok account @mama_mila_ (dedicated to home organization and cleaning) how to get rid of “stubborn” oil stains on textiles. “Say goodbye to oil stains on your favorite clothes,” the mom wrote in the caption of her TikTok video. Five simple steps are enough to remove grease stains. And the good news, it won’t cost you almost anything because all you need are basics like dishwashing liquid and baking soda. Here’s how to proceed to successfully complete the operation.
Start by placing the stained item of clothing in question on a flat, hard surface (the counter, a table, or the bottom of the bathtub for example). If the stain is on a flat surface, it will be much easier to put the products on it. Once the garment is flat, you need to cover the stain with dishwashing liquid. Regardless of the brand, all dishwashing liquids have degreasing active ingredients. Next, sprinkle some baking soda on top of the dishwashing liquid. This will help absorb the fat. After adding both cleaning products, you should leave the products on for about 10 minutes.
Once this step is completed, the mother recommends washing the garment as usual, by hand for fragile clothing, or in the machine for others, on the usual program. She also explains in her video that this technique works just as well on recent stains as on old stains that have already been machine washed.
Its subscribers confirm in comments that this method is magical. Many people point out how powerful dishwashing liquid can be in fighting greasy stains. Another social media star sharing her cleaning tips with her millions of followers on her Instagram account, Sophie Hinchliffe, is also a believer in this technique.
