ATHLETICS WORLDS. New day in the 2022 World Athletics Championships this Thursday, July 21 with a new beautiful program.
The world championships in athletics continue this Thursday, July 21, 2022 with the program on the night from Thursday to Friday of the two finals of the 200m for women and men, the semi-finals of the 800m, the series of the 5000m or even men’s javelin qualifications. For now, the Worlds are dominated by the United States. At home and at the time of writing these few lines, the USA are in first place with 19 medals, including 6 gold, just ahead of African nations such as Ethiopia and Kenya with 8 and 6 medals.
For the French, as expected, the Worlds are complicated with zero medals on the clock for the moment and some disappointments such as with Quentin Bigot, the 110m hurdles or the 400m hurdles. The last hopes rest mainly on Renaud Lavillenie in the pole vault and especially Kévin Mayer for his decathlon which is simply aiming for the world title.
For this 2022 edition, the Worlds are taking place for the first time in history in the United States, at the prestigious Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. Located on the University of Oregon campus, Hayward Field has hosted track and field meetings since 1921.
The 2022 World Athletics Championships will be contested from Friday, July 15, 2022 at 9:05 a.m. local time (for CET time, add 9 a.m.) with Men’s Hammer Throw, and will end on July 24 at 7:50 p.m. with Relay 4 x 400m women.
