[Updated 26 September 2021 11:04am] In the rainy Sochi, qualifying was once again spectacular with McLaren driver Lando Norris’ surprise pole position ahead of Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari and surprise George Russell. By switching to slick tires in the first positions, the Williams driver had several laps to warm up his tires and won his bet. Behind, Lewis Hamilton will only start in 4th position while Max Verstappen, who has changed his engine, will start at the back of the grid. Note that this Sunday morning, Mercedes decided to change the engine of Valtteri Bottas. The Finn goes from 7th to 17th place… 3 places ahead of the RedBull driver. (The grid hasn’t officially been changed as of the time we do our update).
