NAVIGATION PASS. From March 14 and for one month, Navigo pass holders can request a refund for half a month’s subscription. The commercial gesture must excuse the poor circulation of transport in the fall.
[Updated March 14, 2023 at 9:36 a.m.] This is a first: to apologize for the (numerous) difficulties in operating Ile-de-France transport last fall, Île-de-France Mobilités will reimburse holders of a Navigo pass. From Thursday March 14 and until April 14, 2023, the Authority organization of mobility (AOM) in Île-de-France is putting online a platform to compensate users of the RATP and SNCF networks up to half a subscription month.
There is only one place to make the procedure and obtain reimbursement: the “compensation” section of the Île-de-France Mobilités site. It then remains to fulfill the conditions which give right to reimbursement, that is to say “to have held a Navigo pass for at least three months between September and December 2022”, the period subject to delays and multiple breakdowns and to repeated problems in all Ile-de-France transport (bus, metro, trams, RER, Transiliens). It is also necessary to have an Île-de-France Mobilités Connect account or to create one to be eligible for reimbursement. All holders of a Navgo pass have one month to request their compensation, but the organization warns: “A maximum of three weeks elapses between a request finalized and validated by Île-de-France Mobilités and the moment when the transfer is visible on your account. This period may be longer when there are supporting documents to verify”, reports Le Parisien.
The compensation offered by Île-de-France Mobilité for the impaired quality of service in the fall is based on a fixed amount equivalent to half of the monthly flat rate of 75.20 euros applied in 2022, i.e. 37.60 euros. This rate is therefore in theory due to all users who can present three monthly payments between September and December 2022. The organization nevertheless specifies that it will verify the eligibility of the reimbursement and the amount of the latter, without giving further details. .
???????If the reimbursement is linked to the punctuality of the transport operators, the amount may differ from one user to another because it depends on the duration of the delays on a branch. The reimbursement is effective from the moment the punctuality is less than 80%, including in the event of a strike, for 3 to 5 months on a minimum branch. In this case, users are reimbursed for half a month of their Navigo Pass subscription.
If the punctuality is less than 80% for 6 to 9 months, the reimbursement of the Navigo Pass is then made over a full month. Beyond 9 months of delays, a month and a half of the Navigo card is reimbursed. “Users of certain particularly affected branches on the RER B will be entitled to additional compensation,” said the Parisian.
Refunds are made to the user’s bank account. This measure took effect thanks to a new contract between Île-de-France Mobilités and Transilien, the Ile-de-France branch of the SNCF, which was signed on December 9, 2020 for 4 years.
Users of the RER B line, which fell below the 80% punctuality bar in the last quarter of 2022 on three branches: the Aulnay-Mitry and Aulnay-Charles-de-Gaulle axes and the Saint-Rémy-Bourg- la-Reine au sud, will be reimbursed for one month’s subscription (half a subscription for those who have only taken between 3 and 5 months of passes). This reimbursement of half a subscription will also be granted to users of the RER B Sud (Robinson-Bourg-la-Reine) and RER D (Creil – Goussainville) provided they have between 3 and 5 months of subscription during the critical periods.
The Navigo pass has increased by 11.8% since January 1, 2023, from 75.20 to 84.10 euros monthly. The cost of the Navigo subscription had not increased for four years, in 2017. But its increase seemed inevitable, given “the financial situation of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM)”, had entrusted to the Parisian Marc Pélissier, President of the Ile-de-France Transport Users Association (AUT-IDF), recalling that the company that manages public transport in Ile-de-France was in deficit by more than 1, 3 billion euros…
Note, however, that this is not the only price increase that RATP fares have experienced since January 2023. The single ticket has thus increased to 2.10 euros, against 1.90 previously, tickets sold on the buses went from 2 to 2.50 euros (25%), the ImaginR pass increased by 6.7%, with a yearly price of 365 euros against 342 currently.

What about the monthly Navigo Pass?
Like the annual Pass Navigo, the monthly pass allows you to travel on the metro, RER, Transilien, tramway, but not on the Orlyval. There are two types of plan: one covering all zones and a two-zone plan. As an indication, the second is “dezoned” on weekends, public holidays, small school holidays and from mid-July to mid-August. You can obtain it from a RATP or SNCF sales agency. To do this, remember to provide an identity document and proof of address. The monthly Navigo Pass can be provided via the personalized Navigo with your photo or via the Navigo Découverte Pass. The latter is open to everyone – which is not the case with the personalized Navigo Pass, reserved for people working and/or residing in Île-de-France – and costs 5 euros.
What is the Annual Navigo Pass? What price ?
It is valid on all modes of transport (RER, Transilien, tram, metro, bus). However, you cannot use it to take the Orlyval, which takes you to Orly airport from the RER B Antony station. The price of the annual Navigo Pass depends on the zoning chosen and is thus between 801.20 and 925.10 euros, to which you must add an administration fee of 7.60 euros. Note that it is possible to modify the areas you wish to access with your transport card, and thus to adjust the monthly payments. You also have the option of suspending or terminating it at any time if necessary. You can pay all at once, or opt for a monthly direct debit. In this case, the direct debit is made over eleven monthly installments. If, for example, you opt for a Navigo Pass covering all areas, you will have to pay 75.20 euros per month. How does the Navigo Liberté Pass work?
What is the point of taking a Navigo Liberté Pass and not a Navigo day or week Pass? This card allows, by subscribing to the service, not having to queue to buy tickets. Clearly, you create an account, fill in your bank details and pay for your consumption the following month, according to your actual consumption by metro, tram (except Tram Express 11), bus and RER in Paris. “If you don’t travel, you don’t pay anything!” Navigo explains on its site.
Another definite advantage, the journeys cost 1.69 euros per unit in 2023 (price reduced to 0.84 euros per unit) and connections are free for an hour and a half. You can also use it to take the RoissyBus (14.15 euros) and the OrlyBus (10.05 euros). You can terminate it at any time free of charge. How to subscribe? If you already have a Navigo Pass, you must go to the Navigo site and click on “I manage my card”, recalls Le Parisien. You will have to fill out a form, provide a bank details, enter your electronic signature on the contract and give the direct debit authorization. 48 hours after subscription, go to a counter or ATM to install the service.
Don’t have a Pass? No worries. You too must go through the Navigo site by creating your personal space. You can choose to receive your card by post (within ten days, recalls the Ile-de-France daily) or to receive it at an agency. “There are no application fees at the launch”, indicates Île-de-France Mobilités to Parisian.
Who is the Navigo Imagine’R Pass for?
The Navigo Imagine’R Pass is the offer intended for primary and secondary school pupils, apprentices, but also students. It allows you to travel, like all the other Navigo Passes, on all transport in Île-de-France. Please note that this offer is only valid for young people under the age of 26. Its period of validity is thirteen months for the first year of subscription and then twelve months.
Its price is 350 euros in 2023. It can be paid in one go or in nine monthly installments. High school or college student, be aware that this price can be reduced if you are a scholarship student. In this case, the price depends on your department. In Paris, a student whose scholarship is equal to or greater than 450 euros, for example, will only pay 122 euros for their Pass Navigo Imagin’R. How does the Navigo Easy Pass work?
Introduced last year, the Navigo Pass replaces the paper ticket. Very concretely, it looks like a classic Navigo Pass and allows you to top up single T tickets, ticket books, or even Navigo day passes. Attention, you can use it in the RER, provided you stay in Paris. It is not nominative, which means that you can lend it to a third party without worry. To pick it up, go to the station ticket offices. It is sold at the price of two euros. As a reminder, the end of the paper ticket has taken place.
€504.60. This is the annual price to benefit from the Navigo Senior Pass. Be careful, if your income is not taken into account to benefit from the latter, you must not exercise any professional activity. This Navigo Senior Pass is available for an All Zones pass. Payment is made “by monthly direct debit (12 direct debits per year), we explain on the dedicated site. To make the request, nothing could be simpler. Just go to an SNCF point of sale, RATP or Optile. Remember to bring your bank details and proof of identity. Note: you will have to pay an application fee (7.60 euros).
As a reminder, there is now an annual package called Amethyst for disabled and retired people, at least 60 years old and having no activity. It is awarded subject to means testing. Your request must be made to a RATP or SNCF Transilien sales agency or by contacting the Navigo Agency. The department where you reside will then study your file to determine if you are eligible for the scheme and, if so, you must still pay a small financial contribution.
The Navigo Junior Pass is strictly reserved for children aged 4 to 11 years old. His price ? It is set at 16 euros per year in 2023. It allows the use of any transport – with the exception of Orlyval. In fact, the Imagine’R Junior package is not new, but its price has been considerably reduced. It used to cost 350 euros per year two years ago. With this tariff measure, Île-de-France Mobilités hopes to attract 200,000 families. “This potentially represents 1.4 million children in the Île-de-France region”, can we read on the IDFM website.

Dematerialized T tickets (single or in booklets) can be purchased via the Île-de-France Mobilités application on a smartphone. They are stored either on a Navigo Easy Pass or directly on your phone. Manual.
To recharge your Navigo Pass, you can go to a sales counter at a station or station or to one of the automatic terminals. Another more practical solution, if you have an Android or iPhone smartphone, you can recharge it directly via the Île-de-France Mobilités application. Finally, by purchasing a special reader that you connect to your personal computer (at a cost of 7 euros), you also have the possibility of reloading your card from home.
Nothing to do, you can’t get your hands on your Navigo Pass. If you have lost it or if it has been stolen from you, you must immediately generate a replacement voucher at one of the terminals present in the stations, then go to a Navigo contact point. You can also go directly to an RATP or SNCF sales office, with a photo and an identity document. Your Navigo Pass will be replaced immediately, but you will have to pay a fee of eight euros.
Monthly, weekly or daily subscription, the Île-de-France Mobilités application allows you to recharge your Navigo pass directly from your smartphone. Once the usage has been downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, the user must go to the purchase tab and scan their Navigo card using the NFC chip on their smartphone. The user must then choose their transport ticket and pay for their purchase, without having to take out their bank card if they are already registered for Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Be careful though, for holders of old Navigo Passes, the NFC chip does not recognize them when scanning:
In addition to its practical aspect, which notably makes it possible to limit contacts in these times of Covid-19, the Île-de-France Mobilités application makes it possible to limit the use of cardboard paper for tickets, in a more ecological approach. Indeed, in addition to the weekly and monthly passes, it is also possible, via the application, to top up your Navigo pass with single tickets, OrlyBus and RoissyBus tickets or the 1-day anti-pollution pass.
Many Ile-de-France residents who have an annual Navigo pass can choose to temporarily suspend it, without having to provide a reason, and at no additional cost. To proceed with the suspension of the annual Navigo pass, over one or more months, two options are available to the user:
Once the Navigo pass has been suspended, it can be reactivated at any time by performing the same procedure. As a reminder, the Navigo Annual pass can be suspended for a maximum of 12 months. It is automatically terminated beyond this period.
