Charles III. The coronation of King Charles III is fast approaching and details of the coronation concert are being unveiled. World-renowned artists, such as Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli, will perform on stage.
The United Kingdom is preparing to celebrate the ascension of its new king, Charles III, with a spectacular coronation concert on May 7. The concert will take place in an outdoor amphitheater near Windsor Castle and will be broadcast live. Details of the concert have been revealed, including the presence of world-famous artists such as Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli. The concert stage will offer several levels on which the orchestra and the musicians will evolve, forming an abstract “Union Jack”, symbol of England. Four footbridges will start from the geometry of the flag to go from the stage to the crowd, thus allowing the spectators a proximity with the artists. In addition to musical performances, the evening will be hosted by Hugh Bonneville, famous for his role in the Downton Abbey series, and will also feature appearances by famous actors such as Tom Cruise and Joan Collins, as well as cartoon characters such as Winnie Disney bear cub.
73-year-old singer Lionel Richie expressed his honor and excitement at being chosen to sing at the global event. He has, however, kept secret the songs he will perform at the Coronation Concert. The participation of Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli also remains mysterious as to the pieces they will perform during this great event.
The concert will be one of the highlights of Charles III’s coronation celebrations, with massive projections illuminating iconic locations across the UK as part of Lighting up the Nation. Free tickets for the Coronation Choir have been made available to the public via a nationwide ballot, and the concert will also be attended by volunteers from some of the King’s and Queen Consort, Camilla’s charitable affiliations. Despite the large number of big name artists in attendance, it is interesting to note that British personalities such as Elton John, Adele and Harry Styles have all declined the invitation to perform at this event. The reasons for their absence were not specified.
