[Updated May 20, 2023 at 5:57 p.m.] An investigation was opened after the discovery of the body of Ari Boulogne, illegitimate son of Alain Delon, in his apartment in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. According to the first elements revealed by Le Parisien, it was the companion of the 60-year-old photographer who found the body in an advanced state of decomposition. This woman was taken into custody to “clarify the circumstances in which the death of the victim, who was hemiplegic”, may have occurred.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, around 4 am, the police went to the home of Ari Boulogne, after the call of this woman. According to the daily, this childhood friend said she was returning from a trip with her 21-year-old son when she discovered the body.

Also, according to the first elements, the photographer was sick, he would have been transported to the Georges Pompidou hospital recently. A relative of the victim told the daily that “he was in a wheelchair, following a bad fall”. His body was sent to the medico-legal institute of Paris to undergo an autopsy.

Ari Boulogne was the son of German model and singer Nico, real name Christa Päffgen, a member of the Velvet Underground. The latter has always claimed that her son was born of an affair with Alain Delon. After Nico’s death in 1988, Ari Boulogne had several stints in psychiatric hospitals and rehabs. He had notably become addicted by taking drugs in the company of his mother.

Alain Delon has never recognized paternity. Indeed, in September 2019, Ari Boulogne had filed a request for recognition of paternity, with the judicial court of Orleans, but this had indicated that “the French jurisdiction [was] territorially incompetent”. On appeal, he was also dismissed, because Alain Delon had proved that he was domiciled in Switzerland.
