An 11-year-old girl was shot dead on Saturday evening in Finistère by a neighbor. His father was seriously injured with a vital prognosis. A neighborhood dispute could be the cause of the tragedy.

In Plonévez-du-Faou in Finistère, a tragedy occurred this Saturday, June 10 around 10 p.m. An eleven-year-old girl was found dead by the gendarmes called after gunshots. The police also discovered the father of the family, seriously injured in the head with a vital prognosis. The mother of the family is more slightly injured. As for the couple’s second child, he was not injured but is in shock.

According to the first elements of the investigation, a man shot “several times” through the hedge with his rifle at his neighbors, who live in the terraced house, while the British couple and their two daughters aged 8 and 11 years were in their garden. The 71-year-old man, of Dutch nationality, then took refuge with his wife inside his home. After the intervention of the negotiator of the gendarmerie and the GIGN, the couple ended up surrendering. The man and woman were arrested around 11 p.m. and taken into custody.

The person, suspected of having shot, has lived in the hamlet for three years and would not have much contact with his neighbors, according to a neighbor contacted by France 3. “It’s incomprehensible, he continues. I knew very well the family of this little girl. They are extremely nice people who never make history. We talk to each other every day.”

“The reasons for this tragedy are not yet known”, indicated the public prosecutor of Quimper Carine Halley, who notes however that “a conflict has been opposing the two neighbors for several years over a plot of land adjoining the two properties”. A search of the house of the neighbors in question has been underway since Sunday morning. An investigation has been opened for intentional homicide of a 15-year-old minor and attempted intentional homicides. It is entrusted to the gendarmes of the research brigade of Châteaulin.
