Apple has unveiled the iPhones compatible with the next update to its operating system, iOS 17. The latter is likely to make many disappointed since it does not include certain iPhone models that are still widely used.

Will your iPhone become completely incompatible with the next iOS updates? This seems to be the case for some models which should not be able to support the arrival of a new version of the iPhone operating system by the end of the year.

It was during its last conference to date that Apple unveiled with great fanfare the new features to come with iOS 17. An update which notably provides several improvements in essential applications such as “Messages”, “Telephone ” and “Facetime”. Your contacts will have for example a better display within your applications and more options to leave you a message on your answering machine.

But the information that has caused the most ink to flow about this future update comes from the iPhone models compatible with it. If Apple still remains an example of support for older versions of its smartphones (6 years on average), the firm cannot decently keep alive the oldest models sold several years ago.

This is how Apple announced that three iPhone models will not be compatible with future iOS updates: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Newer models and released some time after these may also be cause for concern and should be discontinued by Apple by next year. So if you have an iPhone XR, XS, or XS Max, we strongly advise you to look into buying a newer device.

If you have an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X, then you won’t receive any iOS updates for a few months. A news whose importance you should not neglect! A device that is no longer updated is a real risk for its users in terms of security. Apple will no longer be able to offer you new features, but above all resolutions in the event of security breaches on your device, thus leaving your personal data at the mercy of everyone.

Users of an iPhone 8, 8 Plus or X should therefore seriously consider buying a new smartphone in the coming months. Luckily, there are many iPhone models that are always updated frequently.
