SMART ONE. This weekend marks the first in a long series of big holiday starts. If all regions will not yet be affected by traffic jams, certain roads, and in particular in Ile-de-France, will be avoided as much as possible. Here’s all the info on expected traffic between June 30 and July 2.

[Updated June 29, 5:52 p.m.] Great start! Although the school holidays will only officially begin on the evening of Friday July 7, this will not prevent the first wave of summer departures on the occasion of this first weekend in July. The real difficulties, only in the direction of departures, will in fact take place this Friday, a day classified as red for the Ile-de-France region (orange by the way). Traffic in the outskirts of Paris will be particularly dense from noon, and more generally it is advisable to leave the major cities in the morning.

The next day, traffic jams should mainly be concentrated in Ile-de-France, which the road information service recommends not crossing after 8 a.m., at the risk of finding yourself bumper to bumper. Sunday, on the other hand, will be a fairly classic day, the traffic of this first weekend of holiday departures will be very far from resembling the worst of the summer, and in particular that of August 5-6 during which one day is classified as black by Bison Smart.

For Bison Futé, the weekend of August 5 and 6 will be the most difficult of the period on the roads, with moreover the only day classified black, Saturday 5, in the direction of departures. Like every summer, certain time slots should be avoided as much as possible (we will detail the traffic before each weekend) so as not to find yourself stuck in endless traffic jams. Under the expected high heat, taking multiple breaks and hydrating regularly will not be too much to better understand these moments that are always a little dreaded.
