BLACK MIRROR. France 2 is broadcasting two episodes of “Black Mirror” on television this Monday, July 3, 2023. What to wonder about our relationship to new technologies.

Did you miss the Black Mirror phenomenon, the full episodes of which are available on Netflix? France 2 is broadcasting certain episodes of the series this Monday, July 3, 2023. Viewers will be able to discover the episodes Virtual Hate, in which victims of bad buzz are murdered, and “Freefall”, an episode in which everyone is rated for the least of his deeds and gestures.

Know that Black Mirror was able to predict certain technological innovations, even if (fortunately) their tragic outcome remains fictional for the time being. This is the case of “Freefall” (season 3), an episode during which everyone notes the actions of others, which has an influence on everyone’s place in society, recalling the way in which opinions and ratings on internet now rules. In addition, the presentation video of Apple’s Vision Pro helmet which allows you to review your memories is reminiscent of the episode “The Entire History of You” (season 1), in which everyone can relive and broadcast memories thanks to a chip.

And as we can see in the episode “Metalhead” (season 4), Boston Dynamics’ robot dogs do exist. Oculus creator Palmer Luckey’s deadly virtual reality headset project may also echo “Playtest” (season 5), in which a man finds himself stuck in a horrific video game, and meets a tragic end.

Black Mirror had also predicted conversations with the dead thanks to artificial intelligence (“Be right back, season 2) since Amazon planned to transform the voices of your deceased loved ones into virtual assistants, or the increased surveillance of children thanks to Finally, the episode “Rachel, Jack and Ashley too” (season 5), which follows a pop star replaced by his hologram, is reminiscent of Abba’s recent concerts in hologram, or appearances stars who sometimes died virtually (like Michael Jackson in 2014).

Black Mirror is a British science fiction anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. First broadcast from 2011 to 2014 on British television, it has been produced by Netflix since 2016. Its particularity is that all the episodes, which last more than 60 minutes, present a different plot, cast and settings, while having a common main topic: the influence of new technologies in the world (the title “Black Mirror” referring to screens that reflect our reflection)

Each story is an analysis of new technologies, a caricature of our modernity and invites us to reflect by addressing themes such as the world of work, politics, romantic relationships, social networks, video games… The episodes being independent each other, the different seasons of the series feature a long list of actors and actresses such as Miley Cyrus, Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Tom Cullen (Knightfall), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Jodie Whitaker (Doctor Who), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) or Cristin Milioti (How I Meet Your Mother), among others

Consisting of five episodes, the sixth season of Black Mirror would be “the most unpredictable, the most unclassifiable and the most unexpected of all”, according to Netflix. Charlie Brooker, the series’ creator, told Tudum, “I started this season by deliberately upsetting some of my own principles about what to expect,” he explains. “Therefore, this time around, in addition to the more usual Black Mirror codes, there are also a few new elements […]. The stories still respect the tone of Black Mirror as much as ever, but they are more varied than ever and include many twists.” Below, here is the cast of this season 6:
