On the night of Saturday to Sunday, a tragic event shook the Luna Park of Cap d’Agde, located on the Ile des Loisirs, in the town of Agde. It was around 1:30 a.m. when a terrible accident occurred on the park’s flagship attraction, the Adrenaline, a giant swing with a rubber band that propels thrill seekers into the void at a dizzying speed of 110 km /h. The precise circumstances of this tragedy are still unclear, but it seems that a violent gust of north wind, reaching speeds of up to 80 km / h, may be involved. The two victims, a man and a woman who were tied together, were reportedly thrown violently against one of the large poles supporting the bungee cable, resulting in fatal injuries to the 17-year-old and serious injuries to the 20 year old young woman.
Alerted, the firefighters of Sdis 34 and Smur-Samu intervened promptly to rescue the victims. The young woman was urgently evacuated to the Montpellier University Hospital, where she was admitted to the anesthesia-resuscitation department, with a glimmer of hope for her survival, being out of danger. The human toll of this tragedy was particularly heavy for these two young people who left behind their families, now immersed in inconsolable mourning.
