The Honor Magic5 Pro establishes itself as Honor’s new high-end smartphone. It thus follows the Honor Magic4 Pro released last year, which marked the great return of the Honor brand as an independent entity and separate from Huawei.

If you’ve been following the latest Honor smartphones for the past few years, the design of the Honor Magic 5 Pro shouldn’t surprise you. The latter takes up the idea of ??a camera in the shape of a circle on the back of the phone, as was already the case for the Magic 5 Lite. This rather protruding photo block called “Star Wheel” is housed in a premium-looking glass back. Note that the “Meadow Green” colorway has a matte coating.
At the front, the Honor Magic 5 Pro has a 6.8-inch screen capable of displaying an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. This rate allows you to have good fluidity in your games and apps, and can adapt to save your battery. Honor promises screen brightness of up to 1800 nits. A figure that impresses and promises excellent readability even in direct sunlight.
The Honor Magic 5 Pro’s selfie camera, on the other hand, is quite discreet. The front lens is integrated at the top left of the screen in a pill-shaped block that is reminiscent of the “Dynamic Island” of the iPhone 14.
In addition to the first good feedback from the press, it should be noted that the screen of the Honor Magic 5 Pro has passed through the expert laboratories of the DXomark company. The latter then gave the score of 151, making the Honor Magic 5 Pro the smartphone with the best screen in the ranking (ahead of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra).
On the power side, the Honor Magic 5 Pro can count on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The latest chip from Qualcomm is also one of the most powerful on the market and already equips the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra whose merits we have praised on the performance part. The Honor Magic 5 Pro thus has excellent performance thanks to the software optimization of the phone, which we were able to verify during our test.
For photography, Honor is again relying on a strategy of three lenses grouped in a large block on the back of the phone. These three cameras have already been reviewed by DXomark’s analysis lab and obtained the highest ranking score of 152, dethroning the Huawei Mate 50 Pro (with a score of 149) and the Google Pixel 7 Pro (147).

Like the S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, Honor’s next phone therefore exceeds €1,000 at launch, but with more storage than its competitors.
