An investigation was opened by the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office after the discovery of the lifeless body of an intern at the Pierre-Paul Riquet hospital. Although the causes of death are not yet known, initial findings suggest suicide.
A young medical intern died on Tuesday May 7 at the Toulouse University Hospital after being found unresponsive, reports France Bleu Occitanie. According to the first elements collected on site, the young man, aged 26, was found unconscious at the end of the morning in his on-call room at the Pierre-Paul Riquet hospital. According to hospital management, he had worked in the operating room in intensive care anesthesia until 2 a.m., before returning to his room as usual. An intern at the Toulouse hospital, the medical student had just returned to the Pink City after completing two semesters of internships in different hospitals in the region.
In shock, the team of caregivers immediately took care of him as soon as the lifeless body was discovered, but it was already too late.
